One year, four months and twenty one days without a computer. Yes, I counted. I was only able to go to the library about four times in that time span. It was hell! But hey, I had books to keep me somewhat sane!

Books, they are the lifeline that ties us to sanity when computers are absolutely unavailable. If you are illiterate, I can only say this: Books rule and you can't read them! Poor you.

Books are windows into the eyes of another's imagination, & often that person's very soul. Can you really call books the things that bring us sources of sanity when there are books like Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury? I think not! Stream of consciousness usually makes you feel the very opposite of sane, lol. Books, therefore, bestow empathy on us. I wouldn't call it sanity.

Maybe not for you. Lol, I'd go(more) insane without books.

Maybe books are the cause of insanity b/c they call for so much thought?

YAY! Good for you G.A.Sango. Hmmm, Sango seems like the kind of person who might like books. However she's from the fudal era where not many wemon -unless they were of high station- didn't read, or if they did, very little.

^^ YAY! Can't wait to have you back for good, G.A.Sango~!<3
@ffrose: I think Sango's an exception from the average women of the Feudal Era. & since she was the daughter of a highly esteemed clan leader (that is so fun to say aloud), there's a big chance she's literate. But look at the cultural values: was literature a big deal? Maybe oral folk tales was the norm of being considered wise in the old days. I don't know because I wasn't there. Hmmmmm.

You're right, back then litteracy wasn't a big thing, and oral stories was the most common way of being thought of as wise. You make another good point bringing up her father being a headman of their village, but it was a DEMON EXTERMINATOR village, they spent most of thier time farming to keep people alive, training, raising kids, or fighting demons.

The place looked pretty good before Naraku tore it down, & I'm sure their source of income came from demon bones & weapons forged from such bones. I think Sango's family was one notch above the agrarian society, but maybe a notch below the aristocracy.
